Patterns

Children gain a valuable understanding of mathematical concepts through the exploration and creation of patterns. According to child development researchers Copley, Jones, and Dighe, “The recognition, creation, and extension of patterns and the analysis of change are important pre-algebraic concepts for preschool children.”
In my classroom children in a large group, small group or individually, discuss, describe and identify patterns.
