Pet Rocks

The children choose the materials they need when constructing their pet rocks. Using imagination and creativity, children bring their “pets” to life by naming them and creating a short story about them. When the pet rocks are completed, they are “introduced” and the story written by the child is read to the class. Language, social, cognitive and fine motor, development is enhanced as the children make numerous decisions during the creative process, measure, cut and glue-on materials and invent a character coupled with a short story.
